Left 4 Dead

Publisher: Valve

Left 4 Dead is built on the latest version of Valve's Source engine. It is an intensely popular online game, although not particularly graphically demanding until the highest settings are enabled. We manually played the first section of No Mercy from the rooftop down through the building, at the Highest settings available, with buffering disabled and film grain set to its default setting. 4x AA and 8x AF was set manually in the game engine.

Again in multi-GPU scenarios the Core i7 wins out, but not by a huge margin compared to the Lynnfield board when it comes to average frame rate, but the minimum is again significantly higher on the i7 with Nvidia GPUs. With a CrossFire setup, things are almost equal between Lynnfield and Core i7, and both again nail the older Core 2 Quad by tens of frames per second on average.
